After graduation I spent 4 1/2 years in the Marine Corps. I got to see Okinawa, Thailand and Hong Kong (pre return to China). When I got out, I started a law enforcement career in Norfolk, Virginia. I am married with 2 kids. All are the love of my life. In 2001 I moved back to California and continued in law enforcement. I now am working in patrol in Oxnard. In addition to patrol, I am a Field Training Officer, Rangemaster (well I was a Marine), and H&K Armorer. Life is good and I hope everyone I was close with is doing well. Bret? Alex? Mickey? Thad? Drop me an e-mail if you'd like.

Couldn't hack the higher education thing. Started my own computer repair firm, "Maestro's Computer Services." I am also currently the Executive Director of the Big Bear Foundation and the Strome Family Foundation. We provide services to inner-city and under privileged youth. Just recently, in Jan. of '99, started a second business of my own in the telecommunications/Utilities industry, "Primetime Technologies." All three endeavors continue to be challenging yet extremely rewarding. Having a blast in life! Hope all the other folks from c/o '92 are as well, and for those whom the years have not seemed to have been so kind... know that you can succeed. Don't doubt yourself or let others put doubt into your mind. Get up, get out and go get what you want! You can do it!
Outro!
Obvious to Samohi musicians: I didn't graduate in 1992. I retired from teaching vocal music and piano at Samo that year. Best wishes to all Vikings!

After graduation I took some time off from school to explore work and sharpen my computing skills and travel overseas. Disillusioned by gaming and website companies that go bankrupt after a year or two I decide to return to school at SMC. Two years later and I graduate with Honors AA Degree of Liberal Arts (with a minor in Fine Arts). I am accepted with scholarships into the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating BFA class of 2002 (gadzooks! ten years goes by so fast!) I can't get enough of Chicago or the Art Institute where I am now employed as an A/V technician. I'd like to use this space to also thank inspirational instructors like Peggy Shackelton, Mr. Kerry, and Mark Black and E. Garcia. Their wisdom continues to echo within me.
Sorry to have missed everyone at the reunion. Still here in DC. "Oh yes, I say it plain, America never was America to me, and yet I swear this oath--America will be!" Langston Hughes. Still hoping for peace!
Well, the email that I included in my post 5 years ago is now dead, so I apologize to anybody who's tried to contact me in that time. I've since moved back to Santa Monica and married a wonderful woman named Vejune (vee-YOO-nuh). Turns out we grew up a block away from each other but never formally met until 2001. Lovely. Also still working as an attorney for MGM Studios, through all its expansions, contractions, ups & downs. Hope everyone has found peace and happiness!

After high school, I graduated from Loyola Marymount University, with a communications degree in film. We settled in Northern California, got married in 2003, and just recently moved to Houston. My new job is being a Mom to our beautiful girls - Daytona (Toni) 2.5 years, and Danielle (Dani), 1.5 years. I still occasionally freelance back in CA, and visit as often as possible. I've been married now for almost 13 yrs. I have three kids (1 girl, 2 boys). Currently living in Culver City. After 17 yrs working at Vons as a Produce Manager, I decided to change my career. I am now working within the LAPD organization. I love to coach my kids in baseball and softball. Would love to hear from any of my friends from SAMO.

Just celebrated 10 years with my hubby Garth and the arrival of our son Ozzy and loving every moment I share with them.
Happily married for over a year now, working full-time as a physical therapist at St Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco.
Since Samo I spent four years at Amherst College, MA. I then moved to San Francisco for about a year working with emotionally disturbed children. Got sick of that (naturally) and went to London to do a Masters in psychoanalytic psychology. Now the rain and the distance is pushing me to move again and I plan on coming back to CA just in time for the reunion!

Hello all. Well my wife Kristin and I are living in San Diego. No kids, just two dogs, and that seems to be enough! After graduating from UCSD I started working as an environmental consultant and am still at it.

It was pretty amazing reading all of the posts just now for the first time (2009!).... nice to see names that I hadn't forgotten, but hadn't thought about in a long time.
I'm in my last year at UCLA Medical School and I still live in Santa Monica. It's too beautiful to leave.
Though I should've graduated with you guys in 92, I left after my sophomore year. I remember most people by face. Some of the people that I was friends with are Marla Love, Lin Almeida, Gabrielle Kaufman, Laura... Since Samo, I've graduated from UCLA and am now happily married. Drop me a line if you remember me :)

After working for years in the biotech industry, I decided I couldn't hack it anymore. I'm now back in school for a Masters in Teaching and Teaching Credential program in Eugene, Oregon so I can teach science in high school. I married Asher Tubman, a physics teacher, in August 2007. In July, we had our first child, a beautiful boy named Ze'ev. We are very active in our synagogue here in Eugene. We have two dogs and four cats, love all the outdoor recreation that Eugene offers. Besides being a little sleep-deprived right now, we are enjoying the fall and excited about some snow-shoeing soon. I'd love to hear from anyone...in fact I was just writing an essay for school that included a story about Oliver Baker...anyone know where he is these days? Come up to Eugene if you get sick of the sunny, warm weather in LA!

This is altogether nice. Can't say I've done all that I thought I would've done yet, I suppose you can say my high life's pending, but I've grown enough to enjoy the lowlife in myself as well. So give me a call, whoever you are reading and wondering! I'll ring back on this fiber-coptic phone system here. Don't forget to eat your Cheerios!!!
I'm a fine artist living in Palms. Just recently moved out of Santa Monica. Not very well traveled like amny of you but this is paradise. Managing apartments and painting. Get tattoos and ride my Harley in my free time. Imagine that. Living with my wife Liane and our cats. She rides a Harley too. Working on getting a major showing together to which all will be invited. I want to thank my art teachers as well. Mrs. Vaupen and the one with the short dark hair (forgot your name) Thanks for the encouragement. Congratulations to all as it sounds you are all doing well. Oh yeah, never did finish college. Too much pot up in Humboldt for me to focus on anything. Have some computer certs but really don't use that as I can't stand "working for the man."

Being a pretty private person, i wasn't very interested in revealing my life in such a public way, however it is quite fascanating to read about everyone's adventures. So - in short: Graduated Evergreen in Washington State in '96 with a degree in Film and Visual Art. Left the rainforest to move to the Bay Area where I still reside in a house, by the water. I am getting married in October '03 to the love of my life and quite excited about the future. I LOVE my job where I work with teenagers in the Jewish Community. I also teach yoga and do tons of art. It's very interesting to see where teens are today and remember where i used to be- what seems so long ago. Don't forget your youthful passions and what drove you to be who you are. Much love to all those that I know, and don't know...-n.
have you thought about aphasia recently? well, there are some benefits to changing the water on that package of tofu...

It's great reading about what old classmates are doing in their lives. I currently live in the outer skirt of Los Angeles. I don't miss LA traffic, but I do miss the west side from time to time. I am an occupational therapist treating kids and adults. I have a daughter and expecting another one in a couple of months. I love being a mother. I hope to hear from old classmates. Email me.
i left some time ago with nothing and recently in '04 returned with much knowledge and the right to brag about my travels through this country, canada, and mexico to find out cali is not the place for me. i joined the crazy californians that invested in arizona and been here since with a date to marry in the new year (june '06) happily working as a muddawg (heavy equip. operator) creating new cities and homes for those who come here like myself.
Working at Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P. Happily married to fellow Viking Don Kim Class of 92. Working towards my C.P.A.
I graduated from the University of Illinois May '96 and I'm currently working for an Advertising agency in Chicago, where by the way, the weather isn't as forgiving. I haven't been back to California for quite some time, and I'm always interested in how everyone is doing.
Graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1996 with a BA in philosophy. Graduated from law school in 2000 from Santa Clara University. Living and practicing law in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are keeping quite busy with 4 kids 4 and under. Brooke Eva was born on February 25th and we are in love with her! The triplets are in preschool 5 days a week for about 2-1/2 hours, so that has been REALLY nice. We are still in Mesa, AZ and are in the process of selling our house and trying to get a bigger one...for our HUGE family! I hope you are all doing well.
Okay, slight update to my world. Left VC two years ago, started a chip startup and am now at Cisco Systems, still in the Bay Area, in the Corporate Business Development group. Still hanging out in technology land and still missing life in Santa Monica. Hope everyone is happy and well.
I find myself travelling an intuitive path toward what I would be most happy doing. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz in Sociology I started to take my interest in music seriously and began to work with a fellow Viking on some rap prodution. See Dilated Peoples and Aceyalone. Later I built a small recording studio and then moved on to managing a large scale studio in Topanga. Most recently I moved to NY and found that I was ready to take on an old plan that had been brewing in my mind for some time. I am a music instructor at a social services organization in the Bronx. I get to make music with kids for a living. My ambition is to set up an non-profit organization dedicated to after-school arts enrichment.
Four years since my last update. All of you who remember my daughter Catherine from the campus SAPID program will be shocked to realize she will be a senior in high school next year. This means you are all officially getting old. She attends an all girl private school (which she actually loves despite all the sordid jokes I'm sure you are all thinking of). It's SAT prep and driving lesson time in our house. Yikes! Oh yeah, and we are going through boyfriend issues. Catherine is in love with a marine. He is currently in training in Virginia but hopes to be stationed at Pendelton so they can be near each other while she's in college. Were we that sappy with the puppy love at her age? It's completely nauseating sometimes when they are on the phone. We enjoy bugging the two of them as much as humanly possible.
Our son is doing just fantastic. He attends a private school for children on the Autism Spectrum and it makes such a difference. What an education these last four years have been for us all through our work with him and interaction with other special needs children. He's amazing and we love him to pieces. He's wicked brilliant but not so fond of big groups. He has a huge heart and his favorite thing to do is read to pre-school kids. (I think he just likes to be in charge.) Erik and I are working hard and having fun. We've started a tradition of taking the kids around to major U.S. cities each year and building lasting memories before our little girl goes off to college. Last trip was to the rainforests of the olympic peninsula in Washington. It was so beautiful that Catherine has even talked about living up there in the future. Brent just liked the constant hail and rain. Such a change from LA. Then we hit the space needle for new years eve.
My work is the same, steady and rewarding. I've visited the SAMO campus recently taking Catherine to her SAT prep practice exams. So much has changed. I stay in touch with most of my girlfriends regularly and run into some of you other alumni now and then. Now that Brent is 9 and has made so much progress, Erik and I are considering a third child. We're on the fence between enjoying our increased free time together and enjoying our children and the joy of a new baby. Life is a happy thing. All our best to each of you.
Lived in the Bay Area for about 6 years then my husband and I moved to Minneapolis in 2004. Surprised how much I love it here- even the snow doesn't bother me. We had a beautiful son in April 2007 and are still trying to get used to the fact that we are now parents. Still working on my Urban and Regional Planning masters at the Humphrey Institue, University of Minnesota. I have 3 more classes and my thesis, and then I will (finally!) be done with grad school. All in all, life is good. There's nothing I'd change right now. Hope everyone is healthy and happy. Take care, Nina
Still living in New York City where I ditched the office jobs and have just passed a major stepping stone in my apprenticeship as a hairstylist at a high-end salon in Soho. I love being creative and working with people. I'm still acting, too, and I am the star of an indie flick called "Trapped by the Mormons," a feature-length, silent, b&w remake.
E-mail me, especially if you are Kris Walker-Kettlewell.
Hey guys! Just finished business school at Wharton. Working in investment banking in New York. Gonna try that for a few years and then most likely head out to Shanghai.
To all those who know me I have grown a lot since that shy girl in high school. I now teach chemistry and physics in Mammoth Lakes at the high school. I am also an adjunct professor with the Cerro Coso Community College. I never would have invisioned myself voluntarily speaking in front of a group of people, but I have to say that it is extremely rewarding and I love it! I am currently married to my husband of almost 5 years (8/8/98) and we know have a son who will be 2 in September.
I am currently an attorney practicing Real Estate, Business and Corporate law in Los Angeles. I was very much looking forward to reuniting with old friends, but it turns out I will be in Chicago the weekend of the reunion. I hope all of you have a great time!
What's up everybody... after graduating from Berkeley with a degree in economics, I'm working as a strategy consultant for banks in Asia and South America for a firm in the bay area. Right now just getting ready for my wedding in October in Seoul, S. Korea.
I live in West Covina with wife and three kids.
